Theory Classes

Theory Classes

Music theory is an essential part of music education as it helps create an understanding of musical notation. Musical notation is the foundation of playing an instrument with precision. Not only does music theory complement and enhance practical studies, it also stimulates development and a greater understanding of music.

Jean Lyons School of Music is proud to offer the following classes: Rudiments, Harmony, Keyboard Harmony, History, Counterpoint and Analysis, as a class or as private lessons.

Our classes are open to all students studying music and wanting to further their musical education.

During the school year, terms run from September – December and January – May to coincide with the RCM theory exams. Intensive courses are offered in the summer for the RCM August exam session.
